Satellite Symposia and Ancillary Events Fees
Fees below are for activities held at the NLA 2008 Annual Scientific Sessions.
If the application is accepted, the following provisions for each activity will be provided in the NLA administrative fee:
Focus Group(s) /Advisory Board Meetings
Fee = $1,000
- Access to hotel contact to reserve meeting room
- NLA member mailing list and/or pre-registration list for one-time use
Reception(s)
Fee = $5,000
- Meeting room to accommodate target audience for flow reception as available
- NLA Point of Contact to help with planning and operate as liaison between Hotel and Organizer
- NLA member mailing list and/or pre-registration list for one-time use
Breakfast or Dinner Symposia*
Fee = $46,000*
- NLA Program Management Fee
- NLA CME and CE Accreditation Fees
- Basic Event Marketing to NLA Members and Pre-Registrants
- Onsite Prep & Registration Services
- Faculty Slide Review Room
- Ballroom Set for a Max of 250pp in Crescents or Classroom
- Basic A/V Set

Delineated below are the responsibilities and costs covered by the NLA and the responsibilities and expenses that are to be covered by the Symposium Organizer/Medical Education Company. A budget template is provided on page 13 of the downloadable guide to assist the symposium organizer with completing and submitting appropriate grant applications to industry supporters. A symposium slot will be confirmed after receipt of grant approval from the supporter and receipt of grant funds. If the event is cancelled within 60 days of the symposium date, the NLA fee will be nonrefundable.
National Lipid Association:
- NLA Point of Contact assigned to assist with planning and logistics, and to serve as liaison between hotel and organizer
- NLA onsite staff person to manage the logistics of the event (including registration)
- Review and approve the CME application
- Prepare and sign a letter of agreement with the supporter
- Serve as the Accrediting Provider - Provide CME credits, course objectives, schedule; coordinate with the designated CE provider
- Participate in all communication between faculty and medical education company including conference calls and email
- Participate in all faculty slide review sessions
- Meeting room to accommodate target audience set in crescents or classroom, and speaker slide review room
- Arrange for food and beverage, in coordination with organizer
- Provide a standard audiovisual package and technician
- Review invitational brochure and slides for handout and presentation
- Provide an advertisement for the activity on NLA website, meeting related emails, program brochure and on-site materials
- Provide signage for symposium
- Manage advance and onsite registration
- Evaluate the activity
- Provide the medical education/communication company and the supporter a summary of the evaluation results
- Submit invoices to supporter per letter of agreement
- Pay medical education/communication company invoices after receiving grant funds from supporter
Symposium Organizer/Medical Education Company:
- Provide the NLA with a complete satellite symposium application to initiate the process (and a CME application if grant is approved)
- Provide the NLA with a preliminary budget, developed in compliance with the NLA symposium budget template
- Submit the grant request and budget to the supporter
- Provide the NLA with an official letter of grant approval from the supporting organization
- Manage the invitation process for program director and speakers
- Work with the speakers to facilitate development of presentation materials
- Collect faculty disclosure information
- Submit presentation slides, and handout material to the NLA for review and approval
- If a faculty slide review is scheduled, the medical education company must inform the NLA
- Design artwork for a symposium marketing and print the program brochure and syllabus materials
- Provide any additional marketing for the symposium outside that provided by NLA for its members
- Provide speaker honoraria and manage speaker travel, housing, and ground transportation per NLA policies
- Provide one on-site staff person to coordinate faculty and content at the event
