Scenes from MWLA's 4th Annual Scientific Forum It's hard to believe that MWLA is now over 4 years old, and growing quickly.

The Midwest Lipid Association held its 4th Annual Scientific Forum in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on September 28 through 30, 2007. Held in the heart of Minneapolis at the Millennium Hotel, the event drew over 200 participants to this exciting venue, within walking distance of downtown recreation and attractions. The Hotel is located at Nicollet Mall—a major attraction itself.

There were two plenary sessions at this forum. The first,"State-of-the-Art Lipid Management and Special Populations," featured talks that explored the range of patients and their treatment modalities available, such as Dr Michael Davidson's talk on the safety of lipid-lowering drugs.

The second plenary session was on"Controversies in Clinical Applications of Emerging Risk Factors and Technologies," and presented a number of perspectives, such as Dr Donald Lloyd Jones's talk on cardiovascular risk prediction:

Dr Paolo Raggi added his findings on atherosclerosis imaging:

In this backstage scene, Drs Peter Toth and Jennifer Robinson practice handing Dr Davidson his Service Award plaque, thanking him for his year as MWLA President.

Then it was on to the President's Dinner at the Minneapolis Central Library. Here, Dr Jennifer Robinson, the incoming MWLA President, presents the plaque to Dr Davidson. A great deal of work goes into making our events run smoothly.

Speaking of which, here's the MWLA staff table.

We thank Dr Michael Davidson for his year of leadership and welcome the new MWLA President, Dr Jennifer Robinson. To everyone who attended this Forum, a big thank you for your support. We'll see you in Chicago next September in 2008!
