Fall, 1999 began with the Southeast Lipid Association relocating its headquarters to Jacksonville, Florida. SELA, as it is known, was formed by diverse medical representation in a variety of cities located in the southeastern area of the United States. The states encompassed in SELA include Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina. Virginia, the Washington, DC area, Maryland, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.

SELA has been chartered to meet the following goals in 2000:

  • An Annual Meeting Scientific Forum
  • Development Programs for Lipid Education
  • Establishment of Practice Protocols
  • Clinical Studies Referral Programs
  • Socioeconomic & Reimbursement Guidance
  • A Networking Membership Directory
  • Quarterly Newsletter Highlighting Events & Programs
  • Custom-based Internet Homepage for SELA members

Currently, two forms of membership in SELA are available. Active Membership status is open to all appropriately credentialed health professionals who are actively engaged in the treatment of patients with lipid disorders or involved in research and/or educational activities relating to lipid disorders. The Associate Membership is available for those individuals who are actively enrolled in graduate or post-graduate programs relating to the treatment and/or investigation of lipid disorders. They must be seeking full credentialing in their specialized area of medical study. A membership application is included in this newsletter for your convenience.

Southeast Lipid Association is here for your benefit. Please use us, let us help you grow in your chosen field of research or treatment. By increasing awareness of lipid disorders, we all benefit. And, isn't that the best goal of all? Join SELA now!
