PRACTICAL PEDOMETER COURSE AND 2-MILE WALK
Saturday, February 10, 4:00–5:45PM – Led by Ralph La Forge, MSc 45-minute classroom presentation; 60–minute field session
A growing number of recent studies have clearly shown that the systematic use of pedometers to incentivize and acknowledge physical activity is effective, particularly in diabetes and CVD prevention and management programs. This classroom and field session (~2 mile walk) will discuss practical applications of recently published research, how to choose a durable but affordable pedometer, and, most important, 10 tips on the creative use of a pedometer in primary and secondary prevention settings. This session includes a complimentary Accusplit Eagle 120XL pedometer for all who attend.
