Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the needs of physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and registered dietitians interested in lipid management.
Program Objectives
The 3rd Annual Scientific Forum of the SWLA will present scientific updates and clinical management strategies designed to advance the professional development of NLA members and promote improvements in patient care.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
Identify the constellation of cardiovascular risk markers in patients with diabetes, metabolic syndrome or obesity.
Identify the role of adipose tissue in diabetes and heart disease.
Assess diet, exercise and surgical interventions to reduce cardiometabolic risk and obesity.
Discuss the impact of recent clinical trials relating to the field of dyslipidemia management.
Distinguish the role of LDL and ApoB as predictors of risk for cardiovascular disease and as targets of therapy to reduce risk for coronary artery disease.
Identify and discuss the lipoprotein and genetic markers of cardiovascular risk.
Discuss prevention and treatment strategies for women, youth/adolescents and the elderly.
Program Format
This educational activity is composed of didactic lectures with PowerPoint presentations and panel discussions. There will be ample time for questions and answers and attendee participation is highly encouraged.

Criteria for Success
