Accreditation and Objectives
Target Audience
This program is intended for physicians, dieticians, pharmacists, nurses, physician assistants, cardiologists, endocrinologists, internists and primary care physicians and other healthcare professionals who wish to specialize and become certified by the American board of clinical lipidology (ABCL), the accreditation council for clinical lipidology (ACCL), or who desire advanced training in the management of dyslipidemias and the metabolic syndrome.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss lipoprotein metabolism and the role of the vascular system in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis
- Manage dyslipidemias according to patient profiles
- Assess traditional and emerging markers for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease
- Critique the role of drug therapies, nutrition, and therapeutic life style changes in the management of dyslipidemias
- Manage cardiometabolic risk factors of the metabolic syndrome
- Explain the role genetic disorders play in lipoprotein metabolism
