Program Description
The Georgia Lipid Academy provides essential information and
resource materials for improving the management of patients with dyslipidemia.

Who Should Participate in the Lipid Academy?
This CME/CE program is designed for Georgia physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants,
and other healthcare professionals who want to enhance or develop
the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal care to patients
with dyslipidemias and related conditions.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Identify the functions and sources of cholesterol and triglycerides, and describe
the role of lipoproteins in atherosclerosis.
- Identify primary and secondary causes of dyslipidemia and describe the impact of
multiple risk factors on global CV risk.
- Outline current guidelines on the diagnosis, management and treatment of
patients with dyslipidemia and the metabolic syndrome.
- Assess the impact of diet, exercise and behavior modifications on cardiovascular
risk and risk factors.
- Explain the principles of pharmacological management and treatment
recommendations for patients with dyslipidemia, including the combination of
multiple agents.
- Apply insight gained through case-based education to the integration of
therapeutic options for the management of special populations.
