A Dynamic and Growing Organization
Formed in 2002, the National Lipid Association is a dynamic organization of approximately 3,000 healthcare professionals who share a common goal-to advance the practice of lipid management in clinical medicine and to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with atherosclerotic disease.
Advocacy
The NLA promotes the prevention of cardiovascular disease and provides a united voice on health policy issues that affect our members and patients with lipid disorders.
Continuing Education & Lifelong Learning
The NLA is your premier resource for continuing education in lipid management and CVD prevention.
Each year, the NLA presents the latest science to members at its Annual Scientific Sessions and its regional chapter meetings. Members are eligible for a discounted registration fee.
All NLA education activities meet the requirements for certification by the American Board of Clinical Lipidology (lipidboard.org) and the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology (lipidspecialist.org).

Membership Criteria
Active Membership: Available to any appropriately credentialed health profession in the US or Canada who is engaged in the treatment of patients with lipid disorders or involved in research or educational activities relating to lipid disorders.
Fellow/Trainee Membership: Available for those individuals who are actively enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate training program for the treatment or investigation of lipid disorders and in pursuit of full credentialing in their specialized area of medical study. A letter from the program director or the school registrant must accompany the application.
Industry Membership: Available to representatives of the industry as an employee or contractor, given that they do not promote or participate in activity directly related to sales and marketing of products or services to members or patients.
International Membership: Available for all applications who reside outside of the United States. As an international member you will only receive membership benefits electronically.
New applicants are approved by the Board of Directors twice a year, during the NLA Annual Scientific Sessions and again in late Fall. Until final approval by the board, applicants are considered "under review".
All NLA member benefits* will be available as soon as your application fee is processed. Depending on your application date, it may take up to six months to receive your membership certificate and welcome packet.
The NLA membership period extends from Jan 1 to Dec 31 and there is no proration available. Application fees received in October, November and December will be applied to the following year; however your member benefits will begin immediately.
