Why are we so complacent at the epidemic of heart disease and obesity in this country.  Can't we as a nation agree that there is a problem.  Apo-B, Lp(a), and other advanced lipid tests, as well as C-IMT and other non-invasive tests can be used can help guide our risk assessment of the majority of patients!

In my personal practice, the advanced testing and complicated lipid regiments are too much for the patients to understand. Meaning... the more simplistic I break it down to them, the better the understanding, the better the adherence to treatment. We don't need more science to tell us that there is an increase of Metabolic Syndrome that leads to MI, we need more time with the patient telling them: 1. you are overweight, 2. you don't move 3. your food choices are poor, 4. this is bad. Bad. BAD. If you don't know how to change, let me help you by...(suggest). Then we make a difference. We have decreased the risk, prolonged the life or avoided the MI.
