The data on President Obama was just forwarded to me by an NLA member. What would your advice, as a lipidologist, be to the President and his physician? Here are the specifics:

2010 data: TG 46 HDL-C 62 LDL-C 138

CAC "negative"

Glucose normal

In 2007: TG 44 HDL-C 68 LDL-C 96 BP 105/62

His number one rf is smoking of course, he has a low trg so less likely to have discordant ldl-p, CAC score is 0 so 5 year risk i slow but with the smoking and a moderatley high ldl-c and age as risk factrors longterm risk is higher, It would still be interesting to know his ldl-p and being the president I would want to check an hscrp /PLAC , not knowing fh but knowing lpa level would help risk stratify

His a president, I would treat his LDL especially level is on the rise.

Stop smoking!! No lipid lowering drugs. Repeat CAC in 4-5 years.

CAC may be false negative in a young man. He needs a CIMT.

Stop smoking !! run a reproducible CIMT to evaluate the real extent of his arterial health,.. or lack there of,.. I wouldn't treat until after that & a full Celera/BHL workup,..
