Why are we so complacent at the epidemic of heart disease and obesity in this country.  Can't we as a nation agree that there is a problem.  Apo-B, Lp(a), and other advanced lipid tests, as well as C-IMT and other non-invasive tests can be used can help guide our risk assessment of the majority of patients!

Why don't we do more about lipids in this country, we have fallen into an LDL-centric medical community and are doing our patients a disservice.  Can't we all agree to do advanced lipid testing, genetics, C-IMT's and more non traditional approaches to investigating risk.  We see residual risk from the many trials which have been done before and are missing the risk by 50-60% in some cases.  Would it not be cheaper to spend more money on aggressive prevention and save the insurance companies money.  We would rather spend 10's of thousands of dollars on revascularization procedures than on prevention.  PCI and other interventions don't save lives!!!  Help start the fight against mediocare medicine!!!
