Looking for members interested in issues related to the clinical practical application of Prevention methodology in the pediatric and adolescent population, using a "Preventive Pediatric Cardiology" clinic platform.

This is a group where nephrologists and lipidologists can discuss common renal disorders and how they affect lipoprotein metabolism.

A major change in global demographics is underway, and will intensify over the next generation, there is evidence for an aging population in almost all developed countries as well as those undergoing major developement. Health problems accompanying this change include Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, frailty, and of course coronary heart disease.  Aging is a risk factor, which while not new, may represent new cholesterol in terms of research into its many manifestations and concerted efforts to improve its theraputic interventions, as well as its long term evolution in clinical medicine toward effective approaches.

This group is formed to discuss the President's Column in the Autumn 2009 Lipid Spin on the subject of: ACCF/AHA/ACP 2009 Competence and Training Statement: A Curriculum on Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and the ACCF/AHA 2009 Performance Measures for Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Adults.

This group is for discussion of potential changes to the publication The Lipid Spin.

The page will be used by the Pacific Lipid Association Board of Directors to discuss board issues. 

The exercise and physical activity (EPA) group includes discussion on the clinical application of exercise (more formal exercise training, systematic workout) and/or physical activity (any physical activity but not necessarily a formal workout, e.g., yard or house work) to patients at risk for cardiometabolic disease, dyslipidemia, hypertension, etc. and including EPA's role in primary or secondary prevention.  Each PDF file in the "Groups Files" link is a relevant and recent paper on several very current issues in EPA's role in weight loss, cardiometabolic risk reduction, and dyslipidema.

This group deals with the treatment of lipid disorders in women of child bearing age. The group will focus on both risk assessment in the younger woman and the safe use of lipid altering drugs and alternatives in the women of child bearing age. Use of lipid drugs in pregnancy will be a focus also.

Biweekly, real-world, high level, lipid case discussions, several of which have been featured in the Lipid Spin. Each case is analyzed with respect to risk assessment, lipid/lipoprotein diagnosis, pathophysiology and lifestyle and pharmacological therapies. Previous cases are archived at www.lipidcenter.com under the professionals tab.

A foum to discuss issues revolving around lipids, lipoproteins and atherosclerosis - encompassing areas such as risk assessment, lipid and lipoprotein absorption, synthesis, trafficking, catabolism and excretion, as well as gender issues, drug therapy, hormonal therapies, etc. All are welcome to blog.
