Nominations for NLA Officers and Board Announced

The nominating committee, chaired by W. Virgil Brown, MD met on June 15, 2005 to discuss the nominations of officers and available at-large board members. The slate presented will be considered by the membership for election at the annual business meeting to be held in Chicago on July 10, 2005.

The following members were nominated to the positions indicated below and, if elected, take their respective offices immediately at the end of the annual meeting.

In accordance to with the bylaws, the office of President and Immediate Past-President are not elected, therefore, the following officers will assume their new post immediately at the conclusion of the meeting.

President and Immediate Past-President:

The Board of Directors of the NLA would like to thank those Board members leaving the Board at the end of their term this year:

Distinguishing himself as a leader and visionary, Dr. Brown has served as NLA Treasurer since inception. He was instrumental in organizing the American Board of Clinical Lipidology and continues to serve as an officer. Dr. Brown is now lead investigator for an extensive 5-year clinical study and we applaud him as he takes on this tremendous task.

Diane Becker, ScD, MPH, RN, Baltimore, MD
Serving with distinction, Dr. Becker is an inaugural member of the Southeast Lipid Association, serving on its steering committee and as one of the first Presidents during the formative years. Her vision was critical in the formation of the National Lipid Association and the certification of lipid specialists. She continues to be a member of the SELA Board of Directors.
