Virtual Patient Center

The NLA is pleased to announce a new Virtual Patient Management Series (vClinicTM) program vClinics: June Visits 1-2.

The vClinics are introduced in conjunction with our new Triglyceride education initiative.

The NLA has partnered with RealCME to host a virtual case activity on hypertriglyceridemia in children. Drs. Don Wilson, Catherine McNeal, and Piers Blackett have created a scenario of a 6 month old female patient in a virtual office setting for health care professionals with an interest in pediatric cases. The activity consists of testing your existing knowledge and gauging your growth after your participation, diagnosis and treatment discussions from the authors, and stimulating questions on the information presented. You will be able to participate in the activity until July 24th, 2015

The NLA is pleased to announce two new Virtual Patient Management Series (vClinicTM) program vClinics: Mike Visits 1-3 and Suparna Visits 1 and 2.

The vClinics were originally developed as part of the NLA's HDL Resource Center. They can be taken as standalone programs or after a comprehnsive review of the slide library activities available there.

In Mike visits 1-3, users are asked to review the history of a 57-year old male patient with low HDL-C and progressive, unstable CAD. Patient assessment and management of this challenging case during 2 sequential physician visits will be discussed. In Suparna visits 1 and 2, the learner can review the history of a 22-year old woman of Asian-Indian descent who presents with metabolic syndrome. Patient assessment and management during 2 sequential physician visits will be discussed. Recognition of elevated cardiovascular risk in a patient typically overlooked for aggressive cardiovascular intervention will be reinforced during this case review.

The NLA vClinic is an ideal environment to explore strategies to improve patient adherence to lipid therapy because the format replicates real-world patient encounters, enabling learners to assess and manage virtual patients, interact with peers and subject matter experts, and manage virtual patients across multiple visits and care settings.

The NLA is pleased to announce two new Virtual Patient Management Series (vClinicTM) program vClinics: Rosa Visit 1 and Rosa Visits 2-3.

These two new vClinics address key knowledge and competency gaps for optimizing adherence to lipid-modifying therapies, in order to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease and related cardiometabolic conditions.

The goal of this adherence vClinic is to provide learners with a practical framework to 1) improve patient adherence to lipid lowering therapies, including the diagnosis and treatment of statin intolerant patients; and 2) to overcome barriers to due statin intolerance, perceived risk for side effects, and/or treating existing side effects.
