Preventive/Clinical Cardiologist Memphis VA Medical Center_University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center Memphis

The Memphis VA Medical Center is recruiting a Preventive/Clinical Cardiologist to join an established Preventive Cardiology Program that includes dedicated lipid metabolism and hypertension clinics and an active clinical and translational research program.   Responsibiities include serving as a teaching attending in these clinics and on the inpatient cardiology consult service.   The incumbent will mentor medical students, residents and fellows in both clinical and research setting.   The position includes dedicated research time commensurate with funded research activity and the opportunity to apply for research career development funding through the VA Research Service (https://www.research.va.gov/funding/cdp.cfm).  The incumbent will also be eligible to apply for VA Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) that provides up to $120,000 towards a qualified student loan.   The incumbent will eligible for an academic appointment in the Cardiology Division of the University of Tennessee at a level of appointment reflecting the incumbent's academic credentials.

The position is either full time VA or part-time VA with opportunity for joint appointment and responsibilities at the University affiliate depending upon the interest of the applicant.

To be eligible for this position the incumbent must be a US citizen (Lawful Permanent Residents may be eligible when it is not  possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy).  The incumbent must hold the Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a school of medicine or osteopathic medicine approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.  The incumbent must have current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States and have completed residency training in an accredited training program leading to eligibility for board certification in internal medicine and cardiology.  Incumbents with specialized training and/or experience in preventive cardiology will be considered favorably.
