The AMA has reported that the U.S. Senate has approved the "Temporary Extension Act of 2010," which extends 2009 Medicare physician payment rates through the end of the month. As a result, the 21 percent payment cut that took effect on March 1 has been postponed until April 1.

Data from a phase 3 study of mipomersen in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia have been published in The Lancet. This study met its primary endpoint, resulting in an average LDL-C reduction of greater than 100 mg/dL in this very high-risk patient population.
