The National Lipid Association is your destination for the science of lipid medicine. Now, everything we know is in one place.

The highest honor conferred by the NLA, honoring outstanding contributions in the diagnosis and treatment of lipid disorders. The W. Virgil Brown Distinguished Achievement Award is selected annually by a joint committee of the National Lipid Association and Foundation of the National Lipid Association.

The recipient of this award will be a scientist or clinician who would lend prestige to the NLA by being given Honorary Lifetime Membership by virtue of his/her unusual expertise and contributions to the field of clinical lipidology.

Fellow of the National Lipid Association (NLA) is an honor reserved for, and awarded to NLA members who are esteemed and recognized by their professional colleagues for having the highest ethical standards and who have distinguished themselves at a regional, national, or international level in the field of Clinical Lipidology. They exhibit excellence in leadership and service towards the NLA’s mission of reducing death and disability related to disorders of lipid metabolism.

Masters of the National Lipid Association (MNLA) is an honor reserved for and awarded to NLA members who are esteemed and recognized by their professional colleagues for having the highest ethical standards and who have distinguished themselves through research, education, health care initiatives, volunteerism, patient care, and service to their community at a regional, national, and international level in the field of Clinical Lipidology. They exhibit excellence in leadership and service towards the NLA’s to enhance the practice of lipid management in clinical medicine.

The Lipid Scholarship Program (LSP) supports clinicians and trainees pursuing advanced education in clinical lipidology. Created by NLA experts, this self-paced, two-year learning program helps physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals deepen their understanding of lipid management across specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, internal medicine, and preventive care.

Each year, 15 scholars are selectedto receive educational and professional development support.

Applications will open in November 2026 – January 2027, with recipients notified in March 2027.
