Program Overview
HoFH remains chronically underdiagnosed
Despite the availability of highly effective therapies and established pediatric screening guidelines, HoFH remains chronically underdiagnosed, often because primary care pediatricians, the clinicians most likely to first encounter these children, lack the clinical confidence to distinguish extreme LDL elevations from other causes, initiate the appropriate diagnostic workup, and recognize when urgent specialty referral is warranted.
The activity guides learners through the full continuum of HoFH care in pediatric practice, from recognition of clinical and laboratory red flags, through screening and confirmation of diagnosis, to an evidence-based understanding of management strategies ranging from statins and PCSK9 inhibitors to lipid apheresis. The series culminates with practical guidance on referral decision-making and long-term, multidisciplinary management for children and families living with this condition.

Recognize clinical scenarios and LDL-C thresholds that warrant referral to a lipid specialist for further evaluation and management.

How to earn credit
Statements of credit will be awarded based on the participant’s attendance and submission of the activity evaluation form. Partial credit may be awarded for ACPE credit.
