NHLBI Issues ATP IV Statement
On June 19, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) issued a statement announcing that the review and guideline development process for ATP IV has changed, and that looking ahead, organizations will work in a collaborative fashion to author and distribute the guidelines.
The National Lipid Association (NLA) has reached out to the NHLBI to offer its assistance in authoring the ATP IV guidelines, particularly as they relate to cholesterol and dyslipidemia guidelines and risk management.
In its statement, the NHLBI conveyed that the work already completed by the ATP IV committee members will be utilized by the selected partner organizations.
The NLA is pleased to offer its expertise to this critical document for patient care. We look forward to sharing more information about ATP IV with NLA members and the public as it becomes available.
