The National Lipid Association has started its search for the next Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. Applications are due by November 1, 2023. Interested candidates must use the following form to indicate your interest in the position. Interviews will be conducted by the NLA Executive Committee and the current Editor-in-Chief, John R. Guyton, MD, FNLA. The Editor-in-Chief will be approved by the NLA Board of Directors. The next Editor-in-Chief will start a transition/training period in early 2023 and assume the role of Editor-in-Chief in June 2023 at the conclusion of the 2023 Scientific Sessions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overall Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the editorial content and policy of the JCL;
- Overall editorial management and development of the JCL, including coordination of referencing and submissions; and
- All communication and workflow will be facilitated through print mail, email, facsimile, telecommunications, and the internet-based manuscript submission, reporting, and tracking editorial system provided by Elsevier.
- Editorial Obligations:
- Serve as reviewer on articles that are not assigned or otherwise reviewed by an associate editor or reviewer.
- Responsibility to the Editorial Board:
- Lead appointment of the Editorial Board by selecting Editorial Board members on the basis of expertise and standing within the scientific discipline, knowledge of the subject matter, and reflection of the actual or anticipated geographic scope of the JCL.
- Travel Obligations. The Editor-in-Chief has the following travel obligations):
- Annual strategy meeting with the publisher
- Editorial board meeting
- Other travel as mutually agreed between the NLA Executive Director and the Editor-in-Chief
- Other Obligations:
- Preparation of Roundtables, including recording, editing, and preparing for submission to the JCL
- Preparation and submission of the From the Editor editorial for each edition of the JCL
Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in matters related to policy, education, or public relations/media, and strong communication skills.
- Highly accessible, with the ability to dedicate time and travel in connection with NLA priorities and assignments.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and well versed in most technology applications used in an office or mobile environment.
- Extremely strong results driven personality, enthusiasm, energy, and confidence.
- High degree of interest in developing consensus through diplomacy.
- Reports to the NLA Board of Directors
- Collaborates and educates staff to support the accomplishment of the initiatives of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology and organization.
- The Editor-in-Chief should attend applicable NLA meetings, which includes: NLA Board of Directors meetings, Scientific Sessions, Clinical Lipid Updates, Executive Committee meetings, strategic planning meetings, and key Council meetings.
- Travel, as necessary, to support the position.
