Oby B. Ibe, MD, MPH is a third year General Cardiology fellow at Temple University Hospital. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Master’s in Public Health from the Milken Institute School of Public Health. Her passion for Preventive Cardiology, lipidology, and multi-modality imaging stems from seeing how cardiovascular disease disproportionately affects African Americans like herself. She is committed to advancing equity in cardiovascular care, identifying social determinants of health, and promoting diversity within the field of Cardiology. In addition to clinical care, her recent research endeavors have included:
Engaging community members about heart disease prevention and its correlation with COVID-19 as a Collaborative for Cardiovascular Equity in North Philadelphia Research Scholar;
Collaborating with Epic/EMR management to identify inequities in access to quality cardiovascular care and outcomes.
She currently lives in Philadelphia with her husband, and enjoys traveling, reading, yoga, and scrapbooking.
Jelani K. Grant, MD
PGY-IV Cardiovascular Disease Fellow

Jelani was born in Trinidad and Tobago, where he completed his medical degree with distinction at the University of the West Indies. He completed his internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital where he served as the first non-US medical school graduate to be a chief medical resident at Jackson Memorial Hospital. His clinical interest includes preventive cardiology with a focus on cardiometabolic risk reduction. His research interests include outcomes research using large datasets, assessing the role of healthcare disparities in cardiovascular disease, and utilizing deep machine learning to assist with reporting coronary calcification. Following cardiology fellowship, he plans to pursue a career in academic cardiology, further his research interests and utilize his training to assist with preventive efforts in his home country. Outside of medicine, he is a huge soccer (football) and Manchester United fan. Jelani is appreciative of the opportunity to be a NLA Lipid Scholar, and grateful for the support and mentorship provided by Dr. Carl Orringer.
