NLA Call for Abstracts

The NLA is accepting abstracts for the 2017 Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia, May 18–21, 2017, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. This is your opportunity to submit your science for inclusion in the NLA’s 2017 Poster Hall. In addition, new this year, the NLA will be featuring digital ePosters in the Poster Hall. Newly Updated NLA-SAP Now Available

The NLA recently finalized the updated NLA Self-Assessment Program (NLA-SAP), which is now available for purchase. The updated program improves on the already existing NLA product that will continue to enhance your clinical knowledge of the core curriculum in clinical lipidology as well as challenge your problem-solving skills in the diagnosis and management of patients with dyslipidemia. Junior Faculty Research Award

The NLA is now accepting applications for the NLA Junior Faculty Research Award. The purpose of the award is to provide salary support to a university or institution to encourage scholarly advancement of junior faculty (qualifying faculty within the first 7 years of their career) in the pursuit of a career related to hyperlipidemia and other lipid disorders in humans. The NLA will fund eligible institutions to provide two years’ salary support for those actively involved in clinical and/or basic science that provides promise of developing new information in fields of study that could advance the diagnosis and management of lipid disorders. The awards will be to support two individual investigators; one with research focused in pre-clinical and basic science and the second with focus on clinical research and will be referred to as the NLA Basic Science Research Award and the NLA Clinical Lipidology Research Award. Foundation Releases FCS Cookbook

As part of the recent launch of the RADAR Campaign (RADAR: RAre Disease AwaReness), the Foundation of the National Lipid Association released a digital cookbook featuring recipes geared toward the patient with familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS). The recipes included in the cookbook are lowto no-fat options offering a variety of healthy alternatives that are tasty and flavorsome! In addition to the cookbook, tearsheets and other patient resources were created to help improve the identification and management of rare lipid disorders. NLA Member Featured in RDR

Rare Disease Report (RDR) recently published an article from an interview with Alan Brown, MD, about familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS). IAS Visiting Fellowship Opportunities

The International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS) is accepting applications for their Visiting Fellowship Award. Any member of IAS who is actively engaged in research in the field of cardiovascular disease, has an MD/PhD or equivalent, and who is 40 years old or less, may apply.
