Use of NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias

The NLA has a legitimate interest in the use of its Name, Honors, and Insignias for several reasons, and shall enforce the following measures:

1. Members have a responsibility to ensure that any implied association with the NLA is accurate;
2. Members have a responsibility to ensure that usage is consistent with the mission and goals of the NLA.

Members may only use the NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias to identify oneself as a member of the NLA on letterhead, business cards, and similar self-identifying professional stationary or websites.
Members may not use the NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias for the following purposes or under the following circumstances:

1. Inclusion directly on or comingled with personal or business marketing materials for the purpose of advancing ones position in the marketplace;
2. Inclusion on any product claim(s);
3. Inclusion as an implied endorsement of the NLA. Authorized use of the NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias does not imply NLA endorsement of or responsibility for a particular practitioner, academician, practice, institution, activity, product, or publication whatsoever.
4. Member must be a current Active Member of the NLA. Failure to remain current on dues payments or having any amount in arrears to the NLA shall disqualify any Member from using the NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias.

The NLA must protect the use of its Name, Honors, and Insignias by allowing use to Members only. Improper use of NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias may result in denial of use or suspension or revocation of NLA membership.

Requests for permission for use of the NLA Name, Honors, and Insignias and questions of interpretation concerning use of this policy should be referred to the NLA office by email at bhart@lipid.org or by telephone at (904) 998-0853.

*Usage of the Fellow of the NLA (FNLA) Honor requires selection by and confirmation of the NLA Honors and Awards Committee.
