Special Education Session at the Orlando 2014 Annual Scientific Sessions:
The National Lipid Association Recommendations for Patient-Centered Management of Dyslipidemia
Friday, May 2 • 6:45 – 7:45 a.m.
As you know, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association last fall released the 2013 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Treatment of Blood Cholesterol to Reduce Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Risk in Adults. The NLA found the document to be an important milestone and constructive in the care of patients but that it left several gaps to be addressed.
In order to address these gaps the NLA convened an Expert Panel, assembled by NLA President Mathew Ito, PharmD and Chaired by Terry Jacobson, MD. The panel’s goal was to contribute the NLA’s vast expertise and experience in the form of clinical recommendations so that clinicians can better and more comprehensively manage their patients. The panel will be presenting these draft recommendations titled ‘The National Lipid Association Recommendations for Patient-Centered Management of Dyslipidemia’ in a Special Education Session at the Annual Scientific Sessions in Orlando, FL.
All NLA members will have the opportunity to review and question the panel during the live session. Members will also have the opportunity to review the draft on the NLA website and submit comments online as well after May 2nd. Stakeholder organizations will have until mid-May to make comments through the NLA website. We hope to get a positive response on these efforts by comparing and contrasting our recommendations to that of other guidelines, with the goal of harmonization of important principles.
To attend the Special Education Session, please register for the Annual Scientific Sessions today at www.lipid.org/sessions. Don’t miss your chance to be among the first to hear from the Expert Panel on the NLA Recommendations for Patient-Centered Management of Dyslipidemia.
After the Expert Panel review the comments received, the final paper will be published in the September issue of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology.
