The International FH Foundation (IFHF) announced new guidance for the care and management of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) in an effort to bring attention to the dangers and costs of leaving FH patients untreated.  A group of leading experts reviewed existing international framework on FH with the view to provide a unique global perspective and integrated approach towards the care and management of the disorder. The final recommendations focus on the standards required for the detection, diagnosis, assessment and management of FH in adults and children. They also identify best practice for (cascade) screening, risk notification and strategies for testing families for FH, including the use of genetic testing.
