
The National Lipid Association (NLA) recently elected new officers to serve a one-year term on its Board of Directors. The election came just prior to the organization’s Annual Scientific Sessions held May 1–4 in Orlando, Fla. The NLA is a nonprofit, multidisciplinary medical society that represents more than 3,000 members in the U.S. and provides continuing medical education for physicians and other health care professionals who practice in the field of clinical lipidology.
Terry A. Jacobson, MD, FNLA was elected president of the NLA. Dr. Jacobson is a leading expert in hyperlipidemia, nutrition, and drug management of hypercholesterolemia, coronary heart disease risk reduction strategies, and clinical practice implementation. He currently serves as professor of medicine at Emory University and director of the Office of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Grady Health Systems, both in Atlanta.
