A Message from Kenneth Kellick, Newly Elected President of the Northeast Lipid Assocation
As your new president I extend my warm greetings.
Some introductions first. I am a clinical pharmacist working for the Department of Veterans Affairs at Buffalo, New York. My Lipid Clinic Practice is now 29-years-old, and I have been with NELA for over 15 of those years. As part of my clinical practice, I am co-director of the National VA Clinical Pharmacy Task Group for anticoagulation management.
I would like to share my goals for this year. I believe all of us have joined the NLA to be a part of our Lipid Community. The benefits of being a smaller organization is that most of us know one another and are easily reachable. This year I plan to “Reach out and Touch Someone.” My first goal is to have a number of virtual get-together conference calls and will ask many of you to share your stories.
I would like many of you to share why you became part of the NLA community. Alternatively, you can relate a personal patient story. Each of you are engaged professionals striving to continually improve your practice and each of you have stories we’d all like to hear.
As we plan these get together meetings don’t forget to ask a friend or trainee to join in. They do not have to be a member. I believe we have a strong core of engaged people and would like to continue the networking that makes us what we are.
My second goal is to make all of you aware of the various items that have been developed and are located on our website. Many of you may not be fully aware of some of these tools that have been developed for your practice. Along with this, I plan to renew interest in the other educational material that is available to you as members.
My third goal is involvement. I have heard from some of you who would like more involvement. We have a number of committees including three membership councils, practice management, practice tools and others that can benefit by participation of those who want more NLA involvement. I would ask those of you who want more NLA involvement to contact me directly and I will make every to bring that to fruition.
I expect it to be a busy and exciting year and would like to hear from each and every one of you. I look forward to serving you as your president in the coming year and urge you to reach out at any time.
Ken Kellick, PharmD., CLS, FNLA
