PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The National Lipid Association (NLA) developed the National Lipid Association Self-Assessment Program (NLA-SAP) to provide a critical assessment of your knowledge and to guide you in the selection of additional training courses as well as prepare you for certification in clinical lipidology. The NLA-SAP works to objectively validate and enhance your clinical knowledge of the core curriculum in clinical lipidology as well as challenge your problem-solving skills in the diagnosis and management of patients with dyslipidemia. The following modules comprise the self-assessment program:

Module 1: The Science of Lipidology: Lipid Metabolism, Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis and Genetic Disorders

Module 2: Evidence-based Medicine and Statistics: ASCVD Risk Assessment and Risk Indicators and Subclinical Atherosclerosis Detection

Module 3: Contemporary Management of Dyslipidemia: Lipid Guidelines

Module 4: Contemporary Management of Dyslipidemia: Lifestyle Therapy

Module 5: Contemporary Management of Dyslipidemia: Pharmacologic Therapy

PROGRAM FORMAT

The NLA-SAP is an online self-assessment program. Modules can be completed from any computer or through the NLA-SAP app designed for tablets. Each module contains between 50 – 100 multiple-choice questions. CME/CE credit is designated based on completion of the required pre-reading material for each module (see accreditation information) and completion of the self-assessment component. Upon answering each question, participants are able to view the correct answer, the rationale and all corresponding references. Each question’s rationale is based on the most current, peer-reviewed published information to help you strengthen and reinforce your knowledge.

Upon completing each module, participants will have access to a personalized score report outlining their performance. Additionally, once credit has been claimed for completing a module, participants will receive a print-friendly version of that module for their use.

WEB-BASED
Upon purchasing the program, you will be provided with instructions on how to access modules from a computer.

NLA-SAP APP
Participants can move seamlessly back and forth between the web-based and app version. Search “NLA-SAP” in Google Play or the Apple App store to download the app. The NLA-SAP must be purchased through the NLA-SAP website, and cannot be purchased from the app. Upon purchasing the program and installing the app, you will be prompted to sign into the app with your NLA user name and password upon each log-in.
