Joyce Ross, MSN, ANP, CLS, CRNP, FPCNA, FNLA, assumed her role as president of the National Lipid Association (NLA) during the business meeting held Saturday, May 21, 2016, in conjunction with the 2016 Scientific Sessions in New Orleans.

“We’re no longer in our infancy. We’re teenagers celebrating our 15th anniversary this year, and that’s why we’re disruptive,” said Ross during her opening remarks on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Her chosen theme for the term of her presidency is to be both disrupters and integrators. She wants to build upon the NLA’s accomplishments of recent years, including the two-part NLA Recommendations for Patient-Centered Management of Dyslipidemia that were published in 2014 and 2015. “The guidelines changed us and set us apart as the lipid experts in the world,” said Ross. The NLA is a multidisciplinary organization, and as the new president, Ross hopes to see the organization grow both in membership and affiliation with like-minded organizations to advance knowledge and practice expertise in the field of dyslipidemia.
