
GENERAL
Who can submit an abstract?
Anyone engaged in clinical practice, research, or education in lipidology or related fields may submit an abstract. Submissions must be made by the presenting author (or a co-author or administrator with permission).
What types of abstracts are accepted?
The NLA accepts original research, encore presentations, and case studies. Encore abstracts must disclose the original presentation date and location in the submission process.
What if I am currently waiting to hear about my abstract being accepted to another conference or Journal?
You can submit your abstract as planned and indicate it as an original submission. If that changes due to acceptance of your work to a conference or Journal taking place prior to the NLA Sessions, you will have the ability to change the status of your submission from original to encore.
What is the word limit?
Abstracts must be fewer than 400 words (not including title or author details).
What language should abstracts be written in?
All submissions must be in English, with accurate grammar and spelling suitable for publication.

Can encore abstracts be submitted?
Yes, provided you disclose the original presentation’s date and location.
Will accepted abstracts be published?
Yes. Accepted abstracts will be published in a special edition of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology.

FORMATTING & CONTENT
How should abstracts be structured?
Abstracts must be organized into the following sections:
- Title
- Background/Synopsis
- Objectives/Purpose
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion (including importance and potential implications)
Can I use brand names for drugs?
No. Only generic drug names may be used.
Do I need to disclose funding and financial relationships?
Yes. Authors must disclose both financial relationships and research funding support.
How should authors be listed?
Authors should be listed in order of contribution, with the senior author listed last.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
How do I submit my abstract?
All abstracts must be submitted electronically through the NLA abstract submission portal. Submissions by email or paper will not be accepted.
Can I edit my abstract after submission?
Yes. You may edit your abstract until the submission deadline. No changes are allowed after the deadline has passed.
Is there a fee to submit an abstract?
No, there is no submission fee in 2026.
REVIEW & ACCEPTANCE
How are abstracts reviewed?
All submissions undergo peer review by the NLA Abstract Committee for originality, relevance, and quality.
When will I know if my abstract is accepted?
Notifications will be sent out by February 15, 2026, to the presenting author.
Who will be notified if the abstract or case is accepted?
Only the presenting author for each submission will be notified about whether the abstract has been accepted or not.
If my submission is accepted, will I need to pay a registration fee?
Yes, all those with an accepted abstract will be required to pay a registration fee to the 2026 #NLASessions and this must be done by March 23, 2026. More details will be provided in acceptance notifications.
If my abstract or case is accepted, will it be published?
Yes, abstract and cases will be published online in the Journal of Clinical Lipidology 2026 Abstract Supplement and released at the start of the 2026 #NLASessions.
If accepted, how will my abstract be presented?
Accepted abstracts may be selected for oral presentations, ePosters, or other formats as determined by the committee.
POST-DEADLINE
Can I change the presenting author after submission?
Yes, you can change the presenting author to any listed author on your abstract up until the 2026 #NLASessions. The new presenting author must be registered to attend the meeting. After the new author registers, they must notify communications@lipid.org. Please include the control number of the submission and the name of the new presenting author.
Can I make edits to my abstract or case after the submission deadline?
No, you cannot. Per NLA policies and procedures, no edits can be made to abstract or case submissions after the submission deadline. This includes adding author names or correcting errors in data. Please carefully review your submission prior to the submission deadline to ensure all co-authors are listed and all information is correct. After January 5, 2026, no more edits can be made to your submission.
How do I withdraw my submission?
To withdraw your abstract, send a written notification to communications@lipid.org with the title, authors, affiliations, control number, and submitter's contact details. Use the summary page as part of the notification.
Abstract Submission Portal
You must be logged into the NLA Website in order to submit an abstract; however you are not currently logged into the site. Depending on the circumstances, you have one of three options:
- NLA Members who have already set-up an account, please login using the boxes at the top of this (or any) lipid.org page.
- NLA Members who have not set-up an account can obtain one by writing the webmaster.
- A guest account can be created for non-members. You may request one by writing the webmaster. Please include a valid land mail address, working contact phone number and relevant professional or academic affiliation. Guest account requests that do NOT include the requested information will be deleted.
