Seven years ago, the Pacific Lipid Association’s (PLA’s) inaugural meeting took place on Jan. 18, 2007, at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina in San Diego. Recently, March 13–16, 2014, we jointly hosted the 2014 Spring Clinical Update (CLU): Atheroprevention: Global Perspectives and Evolving Concepts. We partnered with the Southwest Lipid Association to hold the educational meeting at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea Hotel on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

Peter O. Kwiterovich Jr., MD, professor emeritus at Johns Hopkins and a member of the Southeast Chapter of the National Lipid Association (NLA) died Friday, Aug. 15 of prostate cancer.
As a pioneer in the world of lipid disorders and research, Dr. Kwiterovich was a leading advocate for cholesterol screening in children and founded the Johns Hopkins Lipid Clinic in 1972.
