It is truly an honor to serve as President of the Midwest Lipid Association; following in the steps of those who have brought energy, knowledge, enthusiasm, and creativity to the role. It is a somewhat daunting responsibility!
Greetings! I am honored and excited to take on the role of President of the Southwest Lipid Association (SWLA). At the outset, I would like to sincerely acknowledge the accomplishments of Elizabeth J. Jackson, MSN, the immediate Past President of SWLA. Among other things, she has paved the way with new and interesting activities for our chapter including a high-level Spring Clinical Update in Hawaii, Rural Outreach Mission through partnership with Project ECHO, and the Million Hearts conference in collaboration with the ACC.
(JACKSONVILLE, FLA.)—Paul D. Rosenblit, MD, PhD, FACE, FNLA, was elected to serve as President of the Pacific Lipid Association (PLA) at the National Lipid Association (NLA) Annual Scientific Sessions held May 1–4 in Orlando, Fla. As a regional chapter of the NLA, the PLA is a medical education society for health care professionals who work in the area of lipid management and preventive cardiology.

The National Lipid Association (NLA) recently convened an Expert Panel on Statin Safety to examine various aspects of statin therapy and to determine its safety, patient tolerance and effectiveness.
Established by leading researchers as a not-for-profit organisation, the PCSK9 Education and Research Forum will provide healthcare professionals with open access to electronic and multimedia platforms providing real-time reporting of significant developments and news; authoritative analysis and commentary; and, an extensive library of accredited educational materials tailored to the differing needs of a spectrum of audiences.
At the NLA’s annual Honors and Awards ceremony, Chapter presidents have the opportunity to present Chapter President’s Service Awards. These awards are presented by each Chapter President to one or two members from their chapter who has provided exceptional service to the chapter over the previous year. At this year’s ceremony at the Scientific Sessions in Orlando, the following NLA members were presented with this special recognition:
